After a LONG day of traveling, the SHS Women's Choir (SHS WC) and College of St. Rose Women's Chorale (CSR WC) have arrived at the Hotel Vesuvio in San Jose, Costa Rica! We truly had a very pleasant traveling experience with no delays or problems at all. When we got to Costa Rican customs, they saw all our t-shirts, asked "do you have any fresh fruit?", we said "no sir" and he LET EVERYONE GO! What a time saver. When we cleared customs our shuttle bus was ready to go for us! They were absolutely wonderful for us. They offered to stop at a convenience market, where we were able to get some water. Both the drivers and workers at the Hotel Vesuvio greeted us with a lot of excitement and willingness to help. This makes for an easy period of adjusting to this new culture.
Although everything is going very well, there is one troubling bit of information that we found out tonight: You can't dial 800 numbers from Costa Rica. This is problem because all the calling cards are 800 numbers! Not sure how we missed that in all of our preparation. Anyways, we are finding ways to work around it. Mr. Servant and Ms. Hawk both have international plans, as well as other students. We are all working together to make sure your children can stay in contact with you at home in the U.S.A.
Tomorrow, we will be taking a tour of San Jose! You can look forward to a blog describing that and more :-) Thanks for following us!
So glad you all got there safe and sound. Looking forward to more posts and pictures of everyone :)
